DRUG ALERT: The Teething Mixture/Portavogie Teething Mixture

The Medicines Healthcare products Regulatory Agency has received reports that The Teething Mixture/Portavogie Teething Mixture, containing alimemazine tartrate and paracetamol, has been sold from a number of registered pharmacies in Northern Ireland and by mail order to the UK mainland. Alimemazine tartrate is contraindicated in children below two years.

Pharmacists should be aware that the mixture may be a cause of adverse events in infants. Customers presenting with unused material should be asked to destroy the remainder. For enquiries related to Northern Ireland contact 028 9052 3219.
