RECALL: Sanofi-Avents Clexane (enoxaparin sodium) 20mg and 40mg syringes (10 February)

Sanofi-Aventis is recalling two batches of Clexane (enoxaparin sodium) 20mg syringes and four batches of Clexane (enoxaparin sodium) 40mg syringes. Two of the batches (4715 and 4833) are being recalled because some syringes contain up to 65 per cent overage; the other four batches are being recalled because some syringes contain up to 30 per cent overage.

Medical advice from Sanofi-Aventis is that immediate haemorrhage is unlikely. If patients are concerned about any symptoms they should seek medical attention via normal routes.

Remaining stocks should be quarantined and returned to normal suppliers for credit or replacement.
