RECALL: Martindale Pharmaceuticals Chloramphenicol Eye Ointment 1 per cent (16 March 2006)

Martindale Pharmaceuticals is recalling one batch of chloramphenicol 1 per cent eye ointment because a small number of tubes are labelled as Hydrocortisone Eye Ointment BPC 1 per cent but with the chloramphenicol batch and expiry details. All affected tubes contain Chloramphenicol Eye Ointment BP 1 per cent and both the patient information leaflet and carton are correct for chloramphenicol eye ointment.

Recipients are asked to check their stocks of both chloramphenicol and hydrocortisone eye ointments and to quarantine any remaining stock bearing the above batch number and return it to their suppliers for credit or replacement.
