MEDICAL DEVICE ALERT: Durex extra safe condoms (3 pack) (31 October 2006)

Counterfeit Durex condoms (extra safe, 3 pack) have been placed on the market. The counterfeits may not be manufactured to appropriate standards and may not provide adequate protection against sexually transmitted infections or pregnancy. Details are available from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.

Counterfeit product is marked with an expiry date of 2009-07, the code KM33158 and batch number 20604354. Batch 20604354 was a genuine batch number last distributed by SSL International in May 2005; the company believes that all genuine product will have been sold by now.

Customers are asked to check the batch numbers of Durex extra safe 3 packs and to contact SSL customer care on 0870 122 2689 if any bearing the affected batch number is found. Genuine product will be replaced free of charge; counterfeits will not be replaced.
