MEDICAL DEVICE ALERT: Trulife walking frames (7 May 2008)

Walking frames for adults and children manufactured by Trulife Ltd have been investigated by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency following reports of incidents where the plastic clips used to set the height adjustment have either snapped in use or did not engage correctly, causing the frame to collapse and the user to fall.

All standard models of Trulife walking frames manufactured from 2 April 2007 to 7 November 2007 (product codes beginning with RJ or RM) with plastic height adjustment clips are affected, including models with or without wheels and those with arm support troughs.

In November 2007, Trulife changed back to using metal adjustment clips.

Recipients of the affected frames are advised to contact Trulife on 0114 261 8100 (sales@trulife.co.uk) to discuss arrangements for the frames to be modified.
