Workers confused about sick leave

Cold and flu sufferers are receiving mixed messages from work colleagues about whether or not to call in sick when they are ill, a survey shows.

While 47 per cent of UK workers want colleagues who are suffering from a cold to take time off work, a further 33 per cent considered time taken off because of a cold to be skiving. Consequently, 56 per cent of workers never take any time off to recover and potentially put their colleagues at risk of infection.
