This is your future. A brilliant career lies before you. You stand at the gateway holding the key in your hands — Tomorrow’s Pharmacist 2006. Make your future happen. Read!

In this issue, sponsored by Boots The Chemists, we have grouped articles into colour coded sections. Use the contents page to find articles that especially appeal to you.

This year, as well as including essential information, ie, about the British Pharmaceutical Students’ Association and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, we have tried to explore emerging specialties and career options that you might not have thought about or even know exist. Turn to our article on prison pharmacy, or our piece on getting a job with the Ministry of Defence. Hospital specialties such as orthopaedics, emergency medicine and paediatrics are also covered.

For those who like a bit of adventure we have opened the doors to travel in our “Practice around the world” section. Find out how you can get registered in Australia and Canada or read about charity work in Africa. There is also the opportunity to study abroad — read about how one student went on a student exchange to Singapore.

The biggest news story of the year — prescribing rights for pharmacists, is also featured. This exciting change will have a major impact on the profession and your role and responsibility as a pharmacist in the future. It may even affect you while you are still a student, as universities are likely to review and alter their curricula as a result of the change.

Finally, if you’re hopelessly trying to read this the day after a heavy night out, we offer some relief.

Do not waste another second. Your future awaits. Dive in!
